Online dating with a French Man

Being married to a French man for 5 years already I would like to share my view on life of a Russian wife with a foreign husband from within. I agree that often our Russian ladies decide to make this step out of despair. When I was left with a 1,5 years old son and my Russian husband told me “Have a try to settle your life – there are a lot of such like lonely mothers…” I firmly resolved to settle it. And the way out for me was marriage to a foreigner.

I spent 2 years corresponding. Owing to it I learnt English. First I was in online dating relationships with an American and nearly married him but felt his stinginess and commercialism in time and the situation turned another way. So I got acquainted with my present husband. I received the first letter from him in May, we met in Spain in early June and in July I came to him forever.

Yes, it was hard. I was on the brink of packing my suits and leaving several times the first year. But something stopped me. I wouldn’t like to return home defeated and listen to reproaches and laughs. It was difficult as I didn’t know French, didn’t understand the motives of my husband’s behavior etc. everything seemed to me strange and odd.

But gradually everything was sorted out. Our daughter was born after 2 years of marriage. At first my husband seemed to have no particular affection to her but now he worships her. He loves my son as well and says that he has 2 children: a son and a daughter. I think I am lucky. I have an educated husband with a good social status, though a bit spoilt as he is an only son, grandson and nephew in the family. We really love each other and have a real family life. He is not a typical Frenchman as all typical ones share all household duties equally with their wives, so they cook, iron, wash the floors, go shopping and take care of children, flowers and dogs on equal terms with their wives. My Frenchman is more like a Russian man, being the head of the family, providing for the material wealth, helping a bit about the house and settling all the administrative questions. Many singles French women are surprised how I can bear him?! But from my childhood I remember that my father also was away very often and his last word was decisive.

I often heard that Frenchmen are stingy. Perhaps it is so.
